The South Fort 50M Pool and Main Aquatics Office is located in bldg. 273, behind Baynes Jones Army Community Hospital. The pool is 7 lanes wide and offers 2 diving boards (1M & 3M), plus a water slide and a climbing wall. The South Fort Pool is outdoors, but a "bubble" is erected during the winter for year round fun. The South Fort 25M Pool is located in bldg. 1458. This pool is used to teach swimming lessons and water aerobics. This is an outdoor pool and open for the summer season only.
ACTIVITIES:
PT Swim is offered from 0630 to 0730 hours Tues-Fri. This serves as an excellent alternative to a regular PT training schedule. Reservations are required. South Fort pool only.
Drown proofing classes are also offered at the South Fort pool. Units or commanders desiring water related training will find the South Fort 50M pool available. Reservations are required and a memorandum stating time, date, point of contact, and phone number are required.
Lap Swim is offered Tues-Fri from 1130 to 1300 hours at the South Fort 50M pool year round. During the winter season, one lane remains open for patrons who cannot attend the set lap swim time.
The South Fort 50 M pool is open for general swim from 1300 to 2000 during the week. On the weekends, recreational swim runs from 1200 to 2000. The 1M and 3M diving boards remain open during these times as well. Water slide operational hours vary.
Water aerobics is a low impact exercise class that will tone you up and burn calories in no time. Classes meet at the South Fort 50M pool on Wednesdays & Fridays from 1000 to 1100. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, classes are held from 1700 to 1800. There is no cost for water aerobics.
Preschool swimming lessons are Wednesdays and Fridays from 1000 to 1100. Potty trained children only. Youth lessons are offered on Saturdays from 1030 to 1130. Adult lessons are offered on Wednesdays from 1800 to 1900. All swimming lessons are held at the South Fort 50M pool and cost $5 per lesson.
Raft Night is every Saturday in Winter and every Thursday in Summer at the South Fort 50M pool. Raft Night runs from 1500 to 1900 during which the pool is transformed into an aquatic park with slides and floatation devices for the whole family to enjoy. Personal floatation devices such as rafts, floats, noodles, etc. are also welcome during these hours. No water wings are allowed during Raft Night. Cost to attend is $4 per person.
Dive-In Movies are held every third Friday of the month (Winter only). The 50M pool hosts a movie from 1800 until the movie's conclusion. The movie is shown on a big screen TV while you relax in the pool floating on an inner tube. All movies are rated PG-13 or under. Cost to attend a Dive-In movie is $4.
Pool parties are also available and start at $80 for a minimum of two hours and up to 50 people. Call the Aquatics Office for more information or to make your reservation.
**Kids 12 and under must be accompanied in the water by an adult at all times. Children ages 7-12 may take a swim test to qualify to swim alone, but parent or guardian must still be present in pool area. See a lifeguard for details.
Children must be potty trained to use the South Fort pool at all times. No swimmies or diapers allowed.
**South Fort 50M Toddler Pool is only available during the summer season.
